About Us

We are designing a power distribution system with the presence of Solar PV in Washington Iowa area sponsored by Alliant Energy.

Purpose
     Our team is focused on making sure that Alliant Energy’s distribution system will have the capabilities of handling an increasing PV generation. These tests will help develop a steady system that will keep their distribution system running in a stable fashion. Stability will be able to keep Alliant Energy’s solar Photo-Voltaic generation attractive to their customers. Alliant Energy and our team are looking forward to helping the energy grid become more eco-friendly.

Goals

• Develop a working model of a real world feeder with high PV penetration.
• Discover what locations are points of interest, then connect solar in multiple configurations (single site and distributed).
• Use findings to determine some guidelines to would benefit Alliant Energy to prevent future problems related to high solar PV penetration.
